Domestic abuse investigations have seen a sharp spike in the Espanola and Manitoulin Island area.

She says some of the charges include threatening death or causing serious bodily harm, assault and threats to property.
Lalonde says the names of the accused are not released to protect the identity of victims, but she also stresses that the OPP are available to deal with any crisis.
She adds there are local resources available for anyone who has been assaulted including the Assaulted Women’s Helpline, and if anyone is in immediate crisis to call 911.
