Attorney General Doug Downey announced $2.7-million in emergency aid to support services for victims of domestic violence.
“Staying 鑫鼎彩票代理注册 is unfortunately not always the safest option in certain households and sadly a recent increase in domestic violence has been reported to front-line victim service organizations,” said Attorney General Downey. “This emergency payment will ensure victims of crime, particularly those who are experiencing domestic violence, get the help they need to stay safe and healthy during this crisis.”
The money will help 50 community agencies stay operational and accessible to victims of violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The province is also investing another $1.3-million to the justice system in order to ensure the court system continues to work remotely. The money will be spent on technology such as laptops, conference lines, and digital recording devices.
All courtrooms in the Ontario Court of Justice are operating remotely and people facing charges are appearing remotely, removing the need to transport them to courthouses.
